This book saved me from selling the camera.

The EOS-M has a lot of virtues: small size, big sensor, Canon processor and a small external Bounce flash. But it does NOT have a lot of external controls and I find the menu system to be quite weird. Based on other feedback, I'm not alone.
Learning the menu system is essential and the factory manual is worse than useless. This book is a big help and honestly stopped me from selling the camera at a big loss.
I like that it's easy to skip to the subject you need and the illustrations are very good. The author's suggestions and explanation as to why he makes these suggestions are the heart of the book.
Why not 5 stars?
Two reasons: typos are unforgivable in a reference book and there are a couple in this. One ridiculous example: he talks about the built-in flash..... there isn't one, but this simple error makes you immediately doubt the rest of the book.
This is also a big, heavy book and that's partly because he includes a lot of discussion about light. Good stuff for some people but not something you're liable to go back to and it adds a lot of bulk. It would be nice if the book included a menu reference card or something else you could easily carry to look up that rarely-used setting. [I also wish this - and all camera reference books - were available in Kindle format.]

This book, is a must get...as the instruction book/quick start guide that came with the camera were poorly written.

This is a well written book for a camera which came with a horribly written set of manuals, and quick start guides. Definitely purchase this book, or the book by Jeff Carlson, so you can use what you paid good money for. The camera is unique, and I have yet to fully understand it. However now that I have instructions I will read, I will have the opportunity to determine if the camera is capable of and for what reasons would I use it over other traditional DSLR's that I have (Canon XSi, Canon T1i).

This book instills enthusiasm and not only explains the system, but offers the reader the option of taking the camera system as far beyond the ordinary as the reader wants. Canon needs to include this book with the camera.
