Review
"We may also see the expansion of a new genre, the economics novel. I have been reading Paul McDonnold's The Economics of Ego Surplus, subtitled A Novel of Economic Terrorism, which is entertaining...For those readers who already think most economics is fiction, perhaps this is the way to go."
-David Smith, The Sunday Times (UK)

"...smoothly blends in some economics/finance with a Dan Brown-style conspiracy...reads like the bestseller I picked up at the airport a couple of weeks ago before getting on a plane with the added benefit of dealing with a field I find interesting."
-Mike Kimel, author of Presimetrics

"...well-written and fast paced...does a good job at integrating economic ideas into the story."
-David Zetland, PhD, Aquanomics

"...a fantastic action thriller for the thinker who would like to take a look at what economic terrorism could do to the global economy."
-Tracey Allen, My Four Bucks

"If you love a good thriller, then this is a book for you. You don't have to have a background in economics in order to enjoy the story."
- Paper Reader

"I was intrigued to see how McDonnold would teach while still making the book entertaining. I must say I was impressed...once I got into it I really couldn't put it down."
- Lucybird's Book Blog

"A mix of political intrigue, detective story and economic lesson, this book is eclectic, to say the least. It is an intriguing read that bends genres and rules."
- Valentina, Carabosse's Library

Terrorism of the economy...
By Kathleen Kelly
The Economics of Ego Surplus by Paul McDonnold is a novel of economic terrorism. Pretty scary, I think that not only can terrorists bomb buildings, planes, send women and children strapped with explosives to destroy the Western world and show us how much they hate us, but they can do it economically. In this work of fiction, the author shows us just how vunerable we really are and how we rely on the stability economically and financially. A very well written and thought out novel that could come right from the today's headlines. I found this book very thought provoking and I did enjoy reading it.

Intriguing
By V. Cano
A mix of political intrigue, detective story and economic lesson, this book is eclectic, to say the least. It is an intriguing read that bends genres and rules.
The writing style is clear, which in a novel that deals with a lot of ideas about economics, is a good thing, otherwise we'd be lost after a few pages. It was fascinating to learn about the different theories about the way our world's economy works, and although some of the explanations deviate from the storyline, they are never dull, and they enhance the plot rather than hurt it. There is an interesting balance between the seriousness of the worldwide economic crisis in the story and the main character's fresh voice. When it could have easily been all doom and gloom, the author manages to keep things relatively light.
The one thing that I had a bit of an issue with was the book's length. I feel like it could have done a bit better by being longer, taking more time to explain certain things more thoroughly. It sometimes feels a bit rushed, leaving the reader trying to catch up. This should not deter anyone from reading it, though, since the plot still holds itself together.
This is a book for everyone with an interest in world economy and for all the mystery or thriller lovers out there.

Thought Provoking.
By Melanie
I very much enjoyed 'The Economics of Ego Surplus' - it was interesting, thought provoking, and much better than I had anticipated.
Kyle Linwood, a college professor, helps the FBI with a case involving possible economic terrorism during his summer break.
The story was very believable and I have even found myself thinking about it when I watched the news. The story is fictional, however, 'The Economics of Ego Surplus' opened my eyes to economics and how the economy works.
'The Economics of Ego Surplus' is not labeled Christian Fiction, however, I found it to be clean and think the story was good.
I really liked and definitely recommend 'The Economics of Ego Surplus' if you enjoy reading suspenseful stories that are interesting and make you think!
*I received a complimentary copy from the author. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion.*
