Necessary read

I would first like to address the ridiculous one star review below. The fact that this book presents no pictures of the works themselves does not prevent it from being an invaluable guide to understanding his paintings. Anyone with access to a decent arts library or a computer can quickly become familiar with his paintings. Within 10 minutes of googling Tansey's name, I found a fan site with a large bank of images, titles, and dates, and happened to contain all major works discussed in this book. I would highly recommend familiarizing yourself with his work before reading this book for a more enjoyable and educational experience.

The book's description is very accurate in stating the accomplishments of Taylor's work. His ability to put Tansey's paintings in an art historical, philosophical, and theoretical context is astonishing and necessary in order to fully appreciate the depth of the artist. This book successfully explains the fundamental argument put forth in Tansey's paintings, that representation is not dead, it has only changed form. Taylor does this by exposing the illogical reasoning behind much of modern art criticism.

Being a student of the arts (which dismisses any grammatical errors in this review) with a bias towards representational painting, I particularly enjoyed insights into his painting method, use of monochrome, and process of composing studies for new works. Some of the chapters contained information relating to chaos and complexity theory were a bit over my head but interesting nonetheless. Enjoy

Very Engaging Study

I felt compelled to write a review to balance out the (somewhat silly) one-star review given by T.Swank. It is true that the book does not include any pictures of Tansey's work, but Taylor clearly explains the reason for this in the Preface (before the publishing date, Tansey changed his mind and refused to allow Taylor to reproduce any of his paintings). In opposition to the previous reviewer, I hardly think that this gives us any good reasons to simply dismiss all the content of Taylor's careful and insightful reflection on Tansey's paintings.

This book is an exceptional resource for anyone interested in Mark Tansey's work, but it is much more than that. This book is a meditation on representation itself, and like all of Taylor's work, it offers valuable thinking on the subject. This is a helpful resource for anyone interested in art theory or visual studies.

A Great Guide to Tansey

Knowing that Tansey was consulted on the making of this book, it serves as a great guide for Tansey's work. The chapters are deep, and not anyone can appreciate them, but that does not discredit Taylor's in-depth precision on so much of Tansey's works. I am usually critical of criticisms of works, but that is why this book is so great. It enhances, and besides Cauley, sometimes Bloom, few critics can do this to the subject matter at hand. A must for the serious Tansey student.

This book is in depth, gives insight you just don't think about unless you come from a legal background, and manages to stay entertaining, despite the fact that some of the required subjects of financial laws aren't the most interesting subjects to breach, Mr. Hoegner, Mr. Brito, and others have done a fine job in becoming the resource that anyone considering a business with a bitcoin dimension must refer to.

I Love this Book Themed Coloring Book !!!

I Love Adult Coloring Books and Martha Sweeney has just made me Love them more !!

I have many and am so Happy they have made a come back due to the Hectic , Everyday Stressful lives we live , because lets face it everyone needs some alone time to escape into every once in a while .

What do we usually turn to , to relieve that stress ??

................. Escape into a Good Book.

I love that the author has Released the First Adult coloring book that combines our Love of Books with an array of Designs , Activities and Book Related Phrases to get lost within and make our own.
There is even a page to write down the names of your favorite Book Boyfriends and the Books your going to be reading next.

The cover is Soo soft and there are hidden message and other Gems sprinkled around for us inside so be on the lookout during your Journey to Relaxation.

One of the other things I loved was that the pages were one sided , so if you want to use gel pens or markers , you could do so , but make sure to use a divider between just in case it bleeds through.
If you're a lover of anything Book Related and enjoy coloring and other activities this interactive book is definitely something you should pick up .

Im an adult and I color

Since God can't make me a bird so I can fly far far away, Im going to sit here and color.

I have a great deal of adult coloring books, but this by far is my favorite. I saw tons of people on Facebook with them and got kind of jealous.. I wanted to be a cool kid, so I used my Amazon Prime magic wand and ordered it. Sweeney doesn't disappoint.

Its fun and stylish. 40 different designs to color, games, and pages where I can write down all the names of my book boyfriends. Who could ask for anything more.

I like how nothing is designed on the back of each page because the pens I use bleed through. This is a win. Also I find that once some of the pages are colored I can use them as office signs so the little people in this house can leave me to my own devices.

I will use this coloring book to escape from my children.

I will probably color from the toilet because that where I hide from them.

I will color on a bus.

I will color on a plane.

I will color everywhere.

I will color day and night.

I loved coloring when I was a child and recently picked ...

I loved coloring when I was a child and recently picked it up again last year just prior to the adult coloring craze hit. I usually prefer to color leaves and flowers, but when I saw that author Martha Sweeney had created a “bookish” themed coloring book…I HAD to have a copy. I was lucky enough to receive an autographed advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really like this book particularly because of the bookish themed designs. Plus, there are a variety of page design types to keep it interesting. It even has a word search included. I used several different coloring media throughout the book to get a good feel of what materials worked well with the paper. The Prismacolor Scholar pencils went down smoothly and vibrantly on the bright white pages. I do not have any alcohol based markers, but the Staedtler Triplus Fineliners and Faber Castell PITT pens had very little bleeding, although I still placed a blank sheet of paper behind the page I was coloring to prevent any transfer or bleed through.

My only real complaint about this book is the paper quality. It feels very thin and cheap and you can easily see the print on the next page through the page you are coloring (as you can see in the photos below). I was very disappointed by this! Luckily, the pages are one sided and can be cut from the book for display if you choose. Unfortunately there, are no perforations and I’m not one to cut up my books!

Recommend for any book lover and coloring book collector.

SUNDAY TOLLEFSON is an author, professional keynote speaker, coach, and leading authority on Panhellenic sorority recruitment prep for prospective members. She is the author of RUSH RIGHT: Reveal Your Best YOU During Sorority Recruitment. Having been a sorority member and alumna advisor, Ms. Tollefson was inspired to write the book after noticing an absence of education and advice for young women who were considering joining sororities. She knew that providing quality advice and information could dramatically improve their experiences during and results from sorority recruitment. After her college years, Tollefson served in advisory positions within her Panhellenic sorority and individual contributor roles within Fortune 500 companies including GE, Intel, and Morgan Stanley. Similar to sororities, those companies excelled in both training their employees and recruiting the best talent from the marketplace. Ms. Tollefson brings together the pertinent information and lessons from all these organizations with the SureSister PETAL System™. Ms. Tollefson holds a bachelors degree in business management from the University of Washington. She lives in Tacoma, Washington with her young son and old dog.

Wish I had this during recruitment!!

This is a great book! The tips and advice in Rush Right would have helped me out so much during recruitment. Even now preparing for jobs, I find myself referring to Rush Right in how to put my best foot forward in interviews! This is a great book and ALL potential new members should consider reading it and practicing for recruitment!

I bought this book for my daughter as a graduation gift. I ended up reading it my self and loved it. I was able to utilize the advise to prepare myself for job interviews. I recommend this book for everyone who is preparing for school interviews, recruitment, and job interviews.

Recommend for all young college bound women!

Wonderful book full of helpful information and tips! Not only is it applicable for young women interested in joining sororities, but many of the tips can be used for any professional endeavor. Tips on how to present one’s self best, listening skills, preparation and more; all important life skills that will benefit young women whether they join a sorority or not. For those sorority bound the information on the process and how to be a proactive candidate and put your best self forward in invaluable. The author clearly knows what she is talking about, and the writing is smart and friendly. I recommend this book to any young women thinking of college, as well as their parents!

About the Author
Sharon Karaa is a mass of contradictions, but two facets of her character have always battled for supremacy; her logical self (let’s call him Frank) and her artistic side (lets her call Misty). Until recently, Frank won every battle, forcing Sharon into a life based on most probable outcome and, to give him his credit, it led to a fairly comfortable if rather boring life. Then Misty took up kick boxing and gave Frank a good kick in the goodies. Sharon was first published at the tender age of fifteen. Flush with success, she waited more years than she cares to admit, before making the decision to become an independent author and publishing her first book in 2014. Sharon writes comedy because she needs something in her life she can laugh at, other than herself. Sharon lives with her husband in a little village north of Newcastle, UK. She doesn't have a cat.

Different, But Fun!

If you are a fan of her other books, you will find this a bit different. It's just as much fun though! If you haven't read anything by this author do not waste another moment! Do yourself a favor and start reading now! You will want to start the others just as soon as you finish this one! Happy reading!

The Funny Side of Love

It is not easy writing a comedy romance – just as many Hollywood romcoms fail as succeed – but with her light touch and clean lean style, Sharon Karaa touched my funny bone and I was surprised to hear myself laughing out loud as I read Annabelle Pearson’s quixotic quest for love.

Annabelle is - finally - in love. Nobody knows about this wonderfully change in her life, especially not the dashing romantic lead Nicholas Nattrass (that’s not mattress, by the way, that’s in you own mind). From this new vantage point, the dream oasis of love, Annabelle starts to have visions that belong in stories from the Brothers Grimm, a parade of surreal characters passing through her life, including Cupid seen drawing his bow ready to let fly his dart into the pumping heart of Mr Nattress.

What can she do to save him? Why handbag him, of course, Thatcher style, almost killing the messenger of love and creating the need for a quick costume (and personality) change: Annabelle slipping metaphorically into the skin of Cupid to save his life and continue her hilarious quest.

Clever, funny, witty, I finished the book before bed, dreamed I was on a Metro train hurtling underground and woke with a smile on my lips.

Who would have thought that a timid woman like Annabelle would end up fighting for her true love

Cupid? Who would have thought that a timid woman like Annabelle would end up fighting for her true love? I really enjoyed this book; I had a hard time at first getting into it. It starts out a little slow but picks up. The main character seems to have a lot on her plate all at one time. When she starts to see beings that not one else can see thing start to heat up. She goes to see a doctor for help but find that doctor not to be a normal doctor. He seems to be very infatuated with her and always is there to help her. Between the men, ghost, Grim Reaper, Cupids and Dr. Love, Annabelle has herself in a mess. I would suggest this book to anyone.

Excellent reference for engineers working on the numerical analysis of solid polymers

This book should be a mandatory reading for every engineer seeking to understand the mechanics of solid polymers and how to produce sound, accurate numerical models. Chapter 6 provides a clear description of linear viscoelasticity. Chapter 7 goes into the plasticity models, often used to model some polymers; and describes their range of applicability. Chapter 8, in particular, is a very well crafted and detailed explanation of different viscoplasticity models. So, in summary, I strongly recommend Dr. Bergstrom's book as a fundamental reference.

Nice, but why not in color as the preview indicated

The contend of the book is excellent, but I was really disapointet when I discovered, that it was not in color - the preview shows pages with color graphics, and the book is full of graphics with descriptions such as, the blue curve....the red curve...and this is challenging when it is all gray scaled.
