Sickening....learn exactly how they work you over...

LOVED IT!

LOVED IT! This was the most creative of the bunch. He really made the connection to tools and how they were used.

Though my N is the altruistic, somatic, covert type rather than the overt and extremely pathological kind, it did give me insight into what he did, why he did it and why it made me feel soooo damn crazy. Unlike H G Tudor, mine has no idea what he is. And of course it is all my fault!

I also read Danger: 50 things to never do with an N - finally understood why EVERY vacation was ruined! Also read Evil and Manipulated, Fuel and Escape. Departure Imminent too. That was enough for me to "get it" that my N is an N. Very worth the price and time to read.

After reading all of these I had a dream about a monster who said: "this is who I have been hiding from you - This is what I really am." Last of the denial dropped away the next morning and I am in recovery!

One of the best textbooks that I went to bought instead of rented!!

I went into the course that uses this book with very low expectations. However this book wowed me!! It may look boring but the authors 'spoke' in a way that even people who have trouble with compression (I do) will understand. I learned so much from this book andI wish I could give it 10 stars. Although there is a lot to read, it's definitely worth it!!

Another great fast-moving and fascinating Modesty adventure.

I have recently discovered Modesty Blaise, and this second novel in the series is possibly even better than the first one.
Modesty Blaise is not a female James Bond, but really someone different and unique. Her relationship with Wille Garvin,
is refreshing because they form a professional team, clearly care for each other, but there is no need to make the two
have a romantic relationship as well. The story is of course old, but still a great read. I wish the book was a little
longer, because it took no time at all to zip through it, but that is only because it held my attention so well.

I love Modesty Blaise and wish they would do her justice on a TV show or movie. The movie they did in the 60s was terrible, I think she could be redone with all the strong female characters currently out there...

My thoughts

I purchased the first two books in this series (Modesty Blaise & Sabre-Tooth) to see how I'd like the characters and writing. After having read both, I'm going to get the other books in the series.

I enjoyed the stories, even though it's definately written from a British point of view, and some of the terms used aren't familar to me. Based on context I understand what's meant - and I find it interesting.

This series reminds me a lot of the James Bond series, except with partners rather than a solo character lead. It's a good escape into fiction, and I like that!

Michael Roberts is the classic American entrepreneur. Born to middle class hard working parents, educated in the St. Louis public school system, he worked his way through college and law school to become one of St. Louis' leading businessmen. Throughout his rise in business, Mr. Roberts maintained a strong commitment to the African-American community from which he came. Locating his headquarters in the heart of this community, his endeavors over the last twenty-nine years have created thousands of jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities, raised the level of economic activity and enhanced the quality of life for the African-American community. Mr. Roberts' broad range of professional knowledge and experience developed as both a business owner and public official (St. Louis Board of Aldermen, 1977-1985) encompasses the application of innovative financing strategies for large public projects, public-private sector development negotiation strategies, and successful management techniques for urban commercial properties. His leadership in the creation of innovative strategies for financing of redevelopment projects propelled the City into a major redevelopment phase that lasted throughout the 1980s. Roberts-Roberts & Associates (RR&A) was founded by Michael Roberts and his brother Steven in 1974. RR&A is a minority-owned business consulting and construction management firm headquartered in St. Louis, MO. BEING AN ACTIONAIRE HAS GREAT REWARDS...

Michael V. Roberts, J.D. is more than just a successful business man that many individuals can learn from. In his newest book titled, "Action Has No Season", he provides a wealth of vital information that will leave you in awe. In addition, Roberts shares with readers his success story and offers his wisdom and advice as to how you too can gain wealth and authority. Some insights in his book include: shaping your visions, creating your destiny, mastering your emotions, breaking barriers, leadership and much, much more.

As a growing business woman, my words can not express how informative this book was to me. I encourage ALL Americans who have the desire to live the American Dream, but have little or no direction, to learn how it can be done through reading, "Action Has No Season." I consider the Roberts brothers as first-class business men whom St. Louis is certainly proud to have as leaders in our community. They have turned our city into one that we all can be proud of for many, many years to come. I do, however, feel the need for many more of us, especially African Americans, to seek for our calling in life. By doing so, it brings about much joy and plenty of happiness. Michael Roberts is a savvy businessman that has taken risks and actions when no one else thought it would be possible for him to achieve. Roberts leads a multi-million dollar, multi-dimensional conglomerate corporation that exists because he stepped out on faith. He is an ACTIONAIRE - someone that establishes a vision, builds relationships to accomplish tasks, seeks opportunities to serve the community while acting on all reasonable proposals that come his way.

ACTION HAS NO SEASON offers tools and strategies, which will help you gain wealth and authority. Some of the strategies detailed are: the difference between power and authority; being rich and wealthy; and being a leader and following. You should understand your motivation for change and be open to taking the steps to master that change by using any means necessary. Clear examples from Roberts career provide inspiration and insight on the actionaire concept.

Roberts does an excellent job at sharing his experiences in business. The concept of the actionaire works to propel the movement of black entrepreneurship and empowerment. Within the chapters of this book you, the reader, will find a defined path to your ultimate success and will be able to determine your current position on its' map. This book will equip you with the authors' proven wisdom and guiding principles that established him as a business phenomena, and You Will Take Action.

There is no doubt in my mind that I was destined to read this book at this specific time. "Action Has No Season", has been akin to finding the lost map to my own wealthy treasure. I will say it every single day. These chapters unfolded in such an uncanny way, that they literally explained what has been happening in my life over the last few years, and it has totally equipped me for the unwinding road ahead.

My vision and direction are clearer than ever before. I am an Actionaire, yet I would have not known it, had Mr. Roberts not defined it. Are you? Read this book, and you will know beyond a shadow of doubt if you are on the road to success.

Cyborg Spell Shop: A Harkon Colony Short Story

I love my fantasy and magic but not too bothered about sci fi so why did I buy this - I was looking for something short and punchy for a train journey. The title made absolutely no sense but I was in a rush. Well I am so glad I got this book, (I shall have to rush my purchases more often!) It is a great short story, the characters are great and the story is wacky enough to be engaging. I must admit I was ready to slam this book and leave a crap review but I found myself getting drawn in by the story and the characters to the point where I wanted it to last a lot longer.

In short this is a great book that is well written. I am looking forward to getting more by this author :-)

Hilarious and entertaining short story! Short ribs, please.

This is an exceedingly amusing little short story about a technosage who uses technology to convince people he knows magic. Of course, the tables get turned on him when someone demands the only spell he can't give: Love. Our hero then finds himself on the other side of his own style of "magic," and has to use his wits to scramble out. It all works out in the end in an amusing and thoroughly satisfying manner. It feels in some ways like a zany and hilarious '80s movie. I'm a big fan of author James Chalk!

Finding meaning in Paper Cranes - a beautifully written MUST read!

This is an absolute must read from an incredibly talented writer which draws inspiration from a Japanese legend about Paper Cranes.

In Chasing Paper Cranes Courtney Peppernell literally writes life, in all of its truest and rawest form. She finds the beauty and honesty in connections and then digs deep into them and explores them with her words. One of my favourite lines comes early in the novel when the protagonist Layla tells the reader:
“As bruised as my heart felt, I was realising that the things we haven’t learnt about ourselves are the very things other people come into our lives to teach.”

In reality though, this I'd just one beautiful quote of many and this novel is filled with so many beautiful lines that the pages of my copy will be eventually littered with bookmarks.

What I adore most about Chasing Paper Cranes is that it has the reader delving as deep into themselves as much as they are routing for the novel's main protagonist (and Cal of course) ....
How your experiences shape you; how your decisions have the power to change your path; and mostly how important it is to invest in yourself and your happiness always, as well as in other people... It's all here. The author takes you on a journey where the every experience becomes remarkable and shows you the power we have over not only our own destiny, but ultimately our happiness too. When you read this book, you will come to know what paper cranes mean to you.

Life is made of connections of all kinds and I am a firm believer that people come into our lives for reasons we don't always understand at the time, but they always teach us something. The author clearly believes this too and her beautiful writing empowers her readers to feel inspired to be the best they can be long after they have finished reading this novel.

Seriously, anyone reading this, get a copy of Chasing Paper Cranes. It is beautifully written, honest and touching. I promise you won't regret it.

A story you can fall in love with, unreservedly!

Boy, howdy, I am a little bit in love with this novel. It’s a little bit YA coming-of-age, a little bit heartbreak and recovery, a lot European adventure. It features a Manic Pixie Dream Boy who manages to be completely endearing and completely human, juxtaposed with an intelligent, aching, life-seeking female protagonist whose narrative seems less about finding herself and more about remembering herself and her own relevance to the world. Layla’s poetry of emotion, her immersion in her experiences far from familiar people and things, her immediate devoted friendship with Pistachio Cal Delgardo (yes, that’s his name; this makes more sense than many things pertaining to Cal. Just go with it!), all ring with the earnestness of youth and the Millennial online social reality.

I recommend this novel to young adults, people in long-distance relationships, people coping with heartbreak and betrayal, and especially anybody who passionately loves travel. Peppernell brings the myriad spirits of Europe to intense proximity with the reader, and it’s hard not to fall in love.
